Here are the verses again
Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, [a]acceptable to God, which is your [b]spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this [c]world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may [d]prove what the will of God is, that which is good and [e]acceptable and perfect.
We are not given a lot of help when we are born...
but the Bible if it comes into our environment...
or perhaps a Christian...
or maybe a person of general faith....
basically we MAY start to get a general idea.
If we do hear of Jesus .He says...
OK start this way...from cold....and do these types of things...
Do not heap up mantras and prayers and liturgies...this is the pagan way to somehow "prove " to a god or God that they are OK...no don't do that....
connect in secret....right inside your house, away from noise and interruption, in your secret place inside you and see if you can find the Father, connect with the Fathe and His voice inside your very being....
So already we are connecting with a strange idea that is going to repeat and repeat....
That is of giving space to God to work, to show Himself, to be proof to you, bearing in mind He is not material, He is Spirit, so this is His way of doing it.
Then when you have tried that one, says Jesus....
Give.
That is, "clear a space" in your own legitimately earned finance for God to move....
and not only return...but give to you from all angles pressed down and running over....in the sort of measure and commitment which you have first given.
Give space to God and He will fill it again....same kind of thing as before
Then Jesus says, when you gather together....instead of just gathering in your own name and being glad to see each other...
give all of that over to me....
Together, gather in My Name and God's Name, but this time together as a bunch of people....
And SEE if I don't fill it with My own Presence among you.
Suck it and see.
Then Jesus says things like....instead of just receiving each other in your own names....receive them INSIDE ME.
Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord.
Now do the same with GO.
Dont just GO as you are used to doing....
Go in My Name and I guarantee things will start happening, signs will follow after. Here, let's try it...
Don't take any money, or spare clothing....just go as you are and declare God is Here, the Kingdom is here...you try it....
then when you see, we will send 70 out.....says Jesus to His disciples
Do you start to see the build up?
We start in the absolute cold, only knowing life according to our 5 sense evaluations, and here is Jesus saying...
Go risk something....
Go make some space....
See if God doesn't show up
In other words PROVE TO your self and your own inner knowing that God is true to every Word He speaks.
Then comes Romans 12.1
This is like the third level entry point in 1 John 2....
You have dipped your toe in.
You have baptised your knees and middle.
And you have proved what God says He keeps to.
So if Igive my whole body, my agenda my brain, my heart, my future and past, my present, my emotions my skills....
Everything as a living sacrifice 24/7......wow....do you think God will actually show up???
That is the relevance of Romans 12.2.......the PROOF
That you may PROVE....
Prove what?
Prove what it is like when God's Will is actually on test, or on a testbed in a laboratory.....
Prove that He the SOLE SOURCE OF LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE.....if allowed to BE HIS LIFE IN YOU....
is going to be
PRESSED DOWN,RUNNING OVER
RIVERS OF LIVING waters
and if all that God does through you could be written in books....then the world could not fit it all in again.
Acceptable has completely the wrong sound in modern parlance....like it's barely acceptable...it's OK but not great.
That isnt what it means at all....
One of the things it means is that you will be acceptable to all types of people who will respond to God in you.
it means much more than being loved in Christian bookshops, but its the only thing I can think of off the top of ,my head.
40 years on hardly anybody is reading the Ascent of Man by Bronowski. After all the TV acclaim in his lifetime.
Who has heard of him today among the young?
but those finding Christ are already reading Watchman Nee and the great books from the past that still hold true.
Catholics may not recognise God filling ladies, and may burn them but 400 years on Madame Guyon is still being read by us along with Jacob Boehme, who actually stated that God had shown him he was writing for people hundreds of years from his time. Same was true of St Paul and the apostles.
Acceptable means.....this thing really works...it's a go-er !!!!
Christ in us the hope , the sure definite hope, of glory.
How so sure?
Well we have some now burning inside us like oil.

In the charismatic "thing" 70s 80s 90s it's difficult to think back and remember what it is actually we were believing for. I mean it wasn't all wrong but it was a bit like believing for many outward things....buildings, "ministries"...whatever they were, praise and worship to spread, proliferation of churches (by which we meant warehouses/megaplexes/ HillSongs type things, believing for signs and wonders...still am,believing for people to get saved....and it seems so slow....
but the one thing we didn't really believe for, because it wasn't even a concept for us to believe for...not really anyway....I mean we intellectually had a fumble at it because it was the prayer of St Paul in Ephesians...but it didn't MEAN THAT MUCH.....yet these are the things the Holy Spirit who knows how to lead us into all Truth has rightly majored on....
The formation of the actual Christ in us. As I said...it wasn't really a concept and still isn't in your average charismatic church....BUT THIS IS PRECISELY WHY THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS SENT....to tell us all the things that we HAVE NOW IN THE HEAVENLIES...from which we can draw right now...and to OVERSHADOW US in more or less the same way that He overshadowed Mary. It is the same Jesus Christ that He is bringing to birth and manifestation in us who believe. This IS the work of God...,to believe ON the Son of God...,.to believe ON the work of the Son of God....,and what was that work? That He plunged the Old Adam into the grave and raised us in the likeness of Himself.
See, that's what is wrong with charismatic believing....,they extrapolate OUT from what they "see now" which is mostly outward stuff and try to screw up their faith to believe for MORE OF IT, for MORE BRICK BUILDINGS, believers like them,more electric guitar songs, MORE EVENTS....and ofcourse you can understand why this would be........
Just ONE PROBLEM WITH IT!!!
IT doesn't take any account of the fact that Jesus Christ Himself is installing HIMSELF in you....like a good version of an ALIENS MOVIE. Out of your belly shall flow rivers of Living Water....not just the experience type of waters of the downpayment in the baptism in the Holy Spirit....NO....this is pretty permanent FLOODTIDE. No charismatic anywhere thinks in terms of 3rd level churches of fully mature Jesus Christed individuals taking over the show in whole groups of interrelating families...blasting through neighbourhoods with Kingly and priestly anointing...with the conviction of Rees Howells, Norman Grubb, Basilea Schlink,Graham Pulkingham, Brother Andrew....in other words DEATH TO THE WHOLE SPECIAL CHRISTIAN SYNDROME that has dogged the church for 2000 years because nobody has actually taken the scriptures at face value and believed it all in.....and now you have scores of thirdlevellers exploding their way across earth...or as Daniel puts it....they shall shine as bright lights and run to and fro across the earth!!!!
To misquote MONTY PYTHON......."Nobody expects.... Jesus Christ in His people!!!!"

We are not preaching a fad doctrine. We are not preaching how to become a Christian, or how to ask for forgiveness of sins. We are not preaching how to be filled with the Spirit or how to speak the Word of Faith.
Now previously the BIG Bodies of Christians...the Catholics, the Episcopaleans, the Lutherans, and the smaller subsection non Conformists, as longstanding traditons of the Christian faith try to lay claim to the whole of Bible doctrine, but mostly if you enter their churches only small sections are actively preached, yet they wield an immense clout now after generations of existence. Catholics have this disarming guile to talk expansively about Desert fathers and ministries like Madame Guyon without batting an eyelid over their own track record of extermination of these self same servants when they were unlucky not to escape. The Desert fathers escaped to the wildernesses. No Catholic body ever announces shame, but instead insists on assuming all of church history into their bosom as if it were theirs. This would be similar to the Nazis, had they been successful, making a film about Colditz and profiting from the proceeds of the film.
What we are preaching is bigger than the doctrines of all these traditional groups put together for it is nothing less than unwinding the whole of history since Genesis 3.
Now the world is full of movements. The Jews mistakenly thought the early Christians who they called the Way were such a movement. Well if you can call Adam and Eve or Noah's family, or Abraham Isaac and Jacob a movement...or the 12 apostles a movement ...we just refer to it all as the same Way, the same story. Salvation yes...but it is THE HOW TO Guide for living on earth, there simply is no other way, no other revelation of God,no other name other than Jesus by which this whole thing works. SUBSECTIONS may work...but they always leave huge categories of cultures and people out, and they don't actually work as LIFE LIVED IN GOD, IN REAL TIME. This is what is offered in the gospel. It is unique and because it IS GOD HIMSELF and not some makebelieve He comes with His own Presence where His people genuinely gather in His Name. It's not a LOGO, or a heirarchy as is the pattern with all other types of christian church or non christian beliefs.....the Message of the WAY is such "folly" it makes this outlandish claim.
Where (any) two or three gather IN MY NAME there am I in their midst. Nothing about bishops and popes and priests who have spent a year or two learning about every single sin common to man for some confession booth...none of that.
God's foolishness is wiser than the wisdom of men.

God wrote the Bible to a people on the outside looking in. (Paul said he wrote to babes and not to those who were mature.) When that people begin to walk into life, the landscape changes. We become a people on the inside looking out. The word God speaks stays the same, but we do not. Now we see entirely differently, that is, we are looking at everything from a different point of view. All of our conversation must change to reflect reality as it really is, not reality as seen by a people on the outside looking into something they cannot understand. Teachers such as Watchman Nee and Madame Guyon took us far along this path, but they cannot take us all the way in.
One thing that must change is our view of our own makeup. Diagrams that once worked for us, leading us forward into God, are no longer useful and can now serve to limit us because of their inaccuracy.
The Bible does not limit Christ to a tiny place in my center. This is the single greatest error perpetrated by most “spirit-soul-body” diagrams. Christ lives in my heart. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. I have the mind of Christ, Christ conforms my will to the Father’s, and the Holy Spirit fills me with His emotions.
My spirit is the largest part of my being, literally. My spirit fills and pervades every part of my body and soul and extends beyond both. I, joined to the Lord, am one spirit with Him. His Spirit is my spirit; my spirit is His Spirit. There is no meaningful distinction, nor should I search for any. When you pour a cup of water into a bathtub, you make no attempt to distinguish between that cup of water and the rest of the water in the tub.

I, all that is me, I exist entirely and only inside that circle.
If I were to draw two smaller circles inside the larger circle of my spirit, the next in size being my soul and the smallest being my physical body, Those smaller circles, in this software program, would be a different color.

You can see immediately that this diagram now gives me an incorrect understanding of myself. My spirit fills and pervades every part of my soul and every part of my body. However, we will keep this diagram with the understanding that the reddish color (spirit) goes all the way through both the soul (white) and the body (blue.) (Please don’t take my colors as being significant).
Now, my heart, that includes the physical organ that pumps blood, contains the central part of my human personality, my soul. My heart is also the center and anchor of my spirit. Christ lives in my heart. But Christ is the union between God and me. That is, when you combine the Holy Spirit with the human spirit, so that they are one spirit, the result is Christ. Christians, not wanting to presume on God (unlike David, a man after God’s heart), tend to forget that they are born again. God is my Father, which means that I contain inside myself, in my very makeup, the genes of Father God. One might argue correctly that those genes reside in my spirit, but that argument has no meaning, since my spirit fills and pervades my soul and my body.
When the spirit leaves the body, it takes the soul with it. But the body, without the spirit filling it, is dead and soon returns to the earth. That death is not a blessing, it is the original curse. It is the condemnation against sin. The severing of the spirit from the body is not “the death of Christ.” It is the death of condemnation.
Now, all of these things are things God says clearly and directly in the New Testament.
Let’s look, then, at the soul. My soul is me. I choose; I think; I feel; therefore I am. I share these soul qualities with God. He also chooses, thinks, and feels. Those qualities are the essence of person.
The entire question is: What spirit pervades my soul? Paul says that those who are disobedient are motivated by (filled with) the spirit of Satan. He also says that if we have received the Spirit of Christ, then we live always in that Sspirit. We must learn to walk in our Sspirit, yes, because we’ve never practiced it before. (I spell it Sspirit, because there is no meaningful distinction between my spirit and the Holy Spirit, they are one Sspirit.
Because I believe in Christ, Christ lives in my heart. That means that He is the anchor of that largest part of myself, my Sspirit. Thus Christ fills all that is me.
Look back at that white circle sandwiched between the body (dirt) and the Sspirit (God). Hi, that’s me. Christ lives in ME. I am the union between God and dirt. I am the junction between spirit and flesh. On the side of my spirit is my will. God creates in me the willing and the want to of His will. That means that my will is His will and His will is my will. We are one, as Paul says. On the side of my body are my emotions. They get all tangled up with the earth and with what I had for dinner last night. They belong to Jesus just as much as any other part of me. He carries all of me inside Himself.
Before we get to my mind, let’s look at two other things. My spirit is born again. That means God created a new spirit in me when I asked Jesus into my heart. God killed the old spirit, that Paul calls “the old man.” God did not redeem or restore my old spirit; He put it to death on the cross of Christ. Thus all that once pervaded and empowered my being, giving it “life,” died upon the cross. Now, I have a completely new spirit that is birthed out of the Word God speaks, out of His genes.
Next, my body is filled with the Holy Spirit. My body is the smallest part of me; it is the means by which I look out at and communicate with the physical side of God’s creation. But my body is still corrupt and mortal. It has not yet been redeemed. I eagerly wait for the redemption of my body. My body is still corrupt because it still has the tentacle of sin residing in it. But that sin is not separate from Christ, for Christ became that sin upon the cross and carried it into death with Himself.
But God has an order for all things and I must first learn to walk fully in my brand new, God-enthused Sspirit before I will see my body transformed into one like His glorious body. I must put on immortality; I must put on incorruptibility.
That leaves me with one more part of myself. The part that, in conjunction with my heart, is the “me” I consider myself to be – my mind. Mind is the union between spirit and brain. Heart is the union between spirit and the physical organ called the heart. Heart and mind walk together as ME. Christ is in ME. He lives in my heart and I have His mind.
My heart is good. It is washed clean by the blood; it is the dwelling place of Christ; and I enter boldly with my heart filled with courage and assurance, sitting myself down upon the mercy seat, the throne of Almighty God, looking out, now from this largest of perspectives, seeing all things as God sees them.
Except.
Except for my mind.
My problem is my mind. The whole sanctification process is found in the renewing of my mind. I have the mind of Christ; nowhere does God ever say that I have a carnal mind. But He does say that a believer can be double-minded. But for me to say that I am double-minded is to be double-minded. So I will always say, “I am not double-minded. I have only the mind of Christ.”
Everything is processed by the mind. And the mind doesn’t know what it’s doing. It looks at God and sees something small. It looks at the world and sees something big. Its thinking is all screwed up! My mind is even capable of looking at me and failing to see Christ. That’s how incredibly ignorant my mind can be. Christ – the Holy and exalted One who fills me with His glory - and my mind, at times, imagines He’s not there? You see how ridiculous the mind can get.
My old man, that old fallen spirit, is dead and buried. It is not an issue in any way whatsoever, except. Except my mind still remembers it and still thinks as if it is real. That’s how messed up my mind is. I live with the memory of the old man and imagine that memory as being something real. I live in a fantasy world of imagination and imagine my imaginative memories are more real than the word God speaks, the Word by which I have been born again!
You see how upside down and backwards and messed up my mind can be.
[Religious people don’t like the idea of healing our memories, of taking Christ back into all the avenues of our minds, bringing healing into so many hurt memories and broken places by placing Himself there and showing us that it was not “our fault.”
I have known great healing with power. I have been filled with the knowledge of Christ living as me with great peace. But still, as recently as a few months ago, discovering that I am Asperger’s, and that Asperger’s explains so many unanswered questions through all the course of my life, brought further mental and emotional healing to pain that simply would not go away – until now.
I have nothing but open and unbridled contempt for the argument that Christ does not bring healing into our minds and into our broken hearts by joining Himself with that pain. It is nothing more than the argument of callous hearts who would rather put people down than bring life and healing into their souls.] But let’s get back to the main topic.
I must never believe my mind when it tells me something different from what God speaks concerning me in the gospel.
It is easy for me to change my mind. All I have to do is speak what God speaks. That is the gospel and it is the one ability God has given to the human me. I am well able to speak what God speaks. Paul says that if I speak with my mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in my heart that He is alive (and in me), then I am saved, that means, then I am conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (which is what salvation is).
So let’s add one more thing (my shapes box is limited).

The tongue!
James says that the tongue is the rudder that steers the whole ship. I go in the direction my tongue takes me. What I speak with my mouth is the direction all the rest of my being will follow. That big arrow, coming out of my heart, that is part of my body, that passes through my emotions, my mind, my will, that actually controls the direction and focus of my spirit. That thing, which is here represented by the arrow, is my tongue.
The tongue determines either life or death.
Christians are so willing to say things God does not say. They will not look at their words and compare them to God’s words in the gospel.

Here is one statement I read recently. “We strive to be like Christ, but . . .” Where does God say that? He does say that we “strive to enter His rest.” In other words, the only thing we are to work hard at is to make ourselves stop “trying.”

And where do you ever find God adding the word “but” to Christ?
Anytime you hear the words, “Christ, but,” you are hearing the serpent speaking. He also loves to speak Christ, with a few minor words tacked on.
Back to our diagram.
A further limitation of past spirit-soul-body diagrams is they give no way out of our present human dilemma, the silly limitations of our minds.
This diagram gives the way out provided by the gospel.
Speak Christ.

To speak Christ is to infuse every part of my being with the power and knowledge of my Spirit, which is Christ filling all of my being. To speak Christ is to sit with God in His throne and to see all things as He sees them. To speak Christ is to move back out, in a river of power - the Sspirit – through that smallest part of myself, my physical body, and out into all the earth, bringing life and healing everywhere I go.
To speak Christ is to change my mind. To speak Christ is to be conformed to the image of God’s dear Son.
But there is something more we must look at to understand ourselves correctly.
Let’s add to our diagram.

The world and the spirit that is in the world.
The outer line is my enemy, the world - the spirit that is in the world. Notice that the cross stands entirely between ME – all that is ME, and the world. “Greater is He that is in ME, then he that is in the world.” He that is in me is in all of me. That is, He starts at the outer perimeter of my spirit and goes all the way to my toes and the tip of my nose. He that is in the world is outside of ME. And the cross stands as an unchanging, impenetrable barrier between all that is opposed to me and me.
That is what God means when He says that I am dead. It is to the world, and to the spirit of the world and to the sin that is in that worldly spirit that I am dead TO.
[Those who try to stick sin and the man of sin and anti-Christ inside the circle of all that is me safely embedded in all the protection of the cross, have forgotten the BLOOD that is always washing over me. It’s not a good idea to forget about the blood.]
Everything that I am inside that outer perimeter that is the furthest reach of my spirit IS ALIVE unto God.
I am alive.
But I am not in this world as a defender of that which is alive. I am in this world as the defeat and the demise of all that is death. See that outer line? That is also the gates of Hades. And those gates cannot sustain my assault. They collapse before me. I enter in bringing the life and healing that IS the salvation of Jesus Christ to all that are “dead.”
I am life and color in this world. I am the source - my Spirit - of the river of life. I am heaven invading earth.
I am the throne of God.

From the Mystery of Sin to the Mystery of Syn V - Seeds of Peace

I have just returned from the most beautiful place- The Inside Park -near Blandford Forum.More perhaps in another post.I was very struck on my return to blogland to read more posts on the Song of Solomon by Dan Bowen like this one.


This was striking because while I was away I have been reading more of "From Eternity To Here"by Frank Viola.




Probably the best way to understand this book is to imagine a time of praise which leads into a time of intimate worship.....like a Key of David meeting...or whatever your equivalent is...


then while some instrumentalists are playing gently....someone may be reading beautiful words to meditate on over a microphone. Those words could be any section from Frank's new book.


Let me put it this way. All of us now have the mechanics of lovemaking described and taught in biology or other purpose-built formats in school lessons. But how many take that biology book into the marriage bed with them? Nobody I think. If you take anything at all it is more likely to be poetry.


In the same way...we've heard a lot "about" the Church and Jesus. Many manuals have been written. But what I am saying is when the Presence of the Lord comes, how many of those manuals would you read from at those precious moments!!!!


No, at those moments...if you read from anything at all...it will be from the Bible itself...passages like The Song of Solomon...or Psalms.

Or from a rising tide of books that now includes "From Eternity To here."




they are books to be read...in relationship....in worship

and when God's presence comes. Individually. Corporately.


They began here and there...with Madame Guyon for example.


Then her influence touched countless but one was Jessie Penn Lewis, who in turn influenced Watchman Nee, which I guess Dan has finally got his fingers into.


This in turn led to The Divine Romance by Gene Edwards, which like From Eternity To Here, broadens the scope to capture the grandeur of the purpose of God towards His Bride from Eternity past, through and into creation, to be consummated in the heavenlies; in other words taking in the whole sweep of scripture.




And as Dan has discovered ,this includes unearthing the picture of a Jewish betrothal. Frank Viola describes the process in Chapter 10. In other words Song of Solomon describes this whole betrothal process, where there is quite a time lag between betrothal and actual consummation.




Here again is another example of where the devil-inspired world system scoffs at the very beauty of God's way of doing things. The devil doesn't understand anything other than impulse driven sex. Or worse rape even or violation. This idea that a couple would prepare for each other just is not even in the same horizon, no solar system. He only understands "try before you buy".Partnering without commitment; love without covenant.

Push and shove.

Marriage, he just can't conceive.

So little wonder that the world scoff at a Bridegroom who goes off and leaves His Bride for 2000 years and counting, while his "manservant" (to use the Isaac example) the Holy Spirit prepares a beautiful bride.



My little testimony in all this is that while waiting for the right time to bring out "Early Harvest", about 5 years ago I began to be quickened again to put a track on there about the Bride and Covenant Love. So this took me back to my roots of actually seeking out the double tape message of Ern Baxter at Capel Bible Week 1976 entitled Covenant Love: a Study of David and Jonathan. Well I googled for this and found Dan's blog in the summer of 2007. I had no idea that it would lead on to all this that has taken place. Meanwhile the 2nd cassette has been found in our attic!!!Which means that the 1st one may be in there. Last time we looked I bust the heating system!!!So we'd prefer it if someone else had a copy.




Now Frank's book has come my way....which in many ways is the verbalization of what was going on in my spirit. My task is to get some of this down musically. Over 37 years I have received 2 or 3 songs which are appropriate as well as having it in mind to link them musically.


The other link in my spirit comes from Kenneth Copeland's Blood Covenant series. If you can get these...hear them. Kenneth is part Cherokee , so the concept of Covenant agreement is in his lineage.In fact it was very much a part of why Cherokees did not get/understand Americans who in practice were such Covenant Breakers.

All these aspects of God's love for us come alive as we move out of sin...into Syn.


As we fuse with our Lord and with one another we begin moving in another dynamic.

It is revelation.

It is a way of living.

It is the true Jesus.

It is the real deal.


People who go on and on about morals. And trying to live a better and better life just haven't a clue.

We move out of sin, not to remain in some pure whitescape expanse like Greenland...marooned and guarding our "concept of purity". No I began this series by quoting the whole of Romans 12.


We are saved out of something to become part of something else. If we are not part of something else, we are deceived. If you are not connected to me and I am not connected to you...and so on and so on...the world over....we are all deceived. Jesus is real and he is One. He is not divided.




We can waffle on in churches or on blogs. But I just ask. Are we connected? If not we have a ways to go.


Rob and Ryan Rufus state we just pass through Romans 3 to 5 grace, then a repetition process of grace Romans 6-7 ,then we arrive at Romans 8.


Well two things prove whether they are correct. In Romans 8 living our environment which was formerly barren, starts to crack open. It starts to look more redeemed. We begin to set our immediate surroundings a bit freer. And in Romans 12, having had chapters 1 through 8, we can truly start to operate in this syn life....naturally...and ofcourse supernaturally...what I mean is it is not forced. We find it is normal for us. So these are the two proofs. Romans 8 and Romans 12.

In between by the way...the Jews start getting jealous!!! (More on another occasion!)



What my blog is about is that Romans 6 and 7 are real experiences also. There's a "reckoning/believing/confessing" of our spiritual realities...which often leads to a manifestation of the very opposite....until eventually the reality of the heavenlies crashes through the skies to bring a Romans 8 breakthrough for us. And in the reality of this, we can then sow into other's lives to see the same happen in them. This is the Kingdom chain reaction. This is true multi-level marketing! 2 tell 2 tell 2 tell 2etc etc. This is the picture of leaven, not as sin as in the Pharisees, but as Syn, the Kingdom leaven!




So in the spirit of this I was knocked for six by the manifestation of the love and anointing on the Fisherfolk when they visited our area and school. (1973)If ee cummings had written poetry about the reality of the Body of Christ: it would have looked like this Martha Keys poem.
